Okay, so my "resolution" is to get my butt up and moving. So far, I've been working out at home for two weeks and moving right along.
However, I can work out at home all I want and that doesn't help me to put one foot in front of the other. So, I've added a bit to my workout. Each night after work, I'm going to find some dirt and walk/hike/climb/whatever for an hour to get back into moving.
I started during New Year's weekend. On Friday, I hiked up Prison Hill and found the cache Fat Boy Slim. Nice little scramble and play around the rocks. The Saturday I walked up a gully to find Bern's new earthquake cache. Both of which left me feeling pretty psyched. Though on Sunday the hike knocked me out and I slept for 12 hours. Oops. hehehe
Monday I started specifically on my goal. I love the V&T trail, but being at night (sundown was around 5:30) I decided to stay on the light side of the hill, that being the southern face. Trouble is, this is a STRAIGHT UP climb. Ok, I can do this.
Set out and 40 paces later, my lungs were burning. Rest-rest-rest, 40 more steps, now they are protesting. Another 40, the revolt is underway. 40 more and they are fighting in earnest. Step out another 40, and all out war is declared. Continuing on with 40 step chunks, I fought my lungs and the gain and eventually stood on the shoulder of the hill overlooking both Carson and Lakeview.
Not bad, stood up there, congratulated myself, and booked it back down. 600 steps later, and a total of a half hour, I was back at my truck signing the peace treaty with my disgruntled respitory system.
Day one, DONE!
