So there's this area where half the year it's open to vehicles and the other half it's closed. That was, until last year, when the gates were reinstalled with heftier steel ones and a new sign was added that the area was indefinitely closed to motorized traffic.
Well, crap.
And sure enough, a mere week or so prior to this move, a new cache was placed up there. Just after I had cleared the area out!
So today, Tarry and I hiked up there so he could get all the caches and I could get that one. The ground was hard packed sand with a light mixing of rain so it was stable. And the fog was intense! 50 foot visibility at most! Up up up we went, along the numerous roads and then swung back before heading down again.
GPS (yes I got it working again, somewhat, haven't gotten the screen shots yet) said in 3:47, I went 3.1 miles.
Not bad for this hibernating turtle.
